Most people find a tradesperson by asking around, phoning firms that never call back, or trusting online reviews that anyone could have written. Post your job on some sites and you can be chased by a crowd of firms you have never heard of.
Home+ keeps it simple. Your job goes to a small number of checked local trades, and the reviews you read come from work that was actually done and paid for. Finding trades is part of the free home maintenance app, so it sits alongside your reminders and records.
Describe the job. Tell us what needs doing in a short form, and add photos if they help. You can start from scratch, or straight from a maintenance reminder, such as a boiler service that is due.
Get up to three quotes. Up to three vetted local trades who cover your area and do that kind of work can quote. No more than three, so you can compare without being chased.
Compare and choose. Read each trade's reviews from real jobs, compare the quotes, and pick who to invite round. Or choose no one. There is no obligation.
Keep the record. When the job is finished and invoiced, it is added to your property history, and you can leave a review. Certificates the trade gives you can go straight into your document vault.
Every trade uploads proof of public liability insurance before they can quote.
Where a trade needs a registration or certificate for their work, such as Gas Safe registration for gas engineers, they upload it as well.

Our checks are a starting point, not a guarantee. Before any work starts, check the trade yourself as well. For gas work, ask to see the engineer's Gas Safe ID card, and check it on the Gas Safe Register.

Bad reviews are not removed because a trade dislikes them. A review is only taken down if it is abusive, includes personal details or is not about the job. Trades can reply publicly, so you see both sides.
We are opening town by town, starting with Reading in Berkshire, and only open an area once there are local trades ready to cover it. If trades are not available near you yet, you can still use everything else in Home+: reminders, your document vault and your home record.
